Project
For this project, I created my own avatar character and an
environment referenced from the 2nd movie (Avatar: The Way of
Water). I sculpted his figure, painted the texture, added
material and experimenting with more Modifiers and using the
Shader editor and different components for the eyes, the cliffs
and the water .
Problem
-
Sculpting the facial and bodily features associated with the
Na’vi Omatikaya clan
-
Molding the loincloth to his lower body and adding an
accurate texture
Solution
-
Looking over the design from different angles instead of
relying on appearances from Front, Left and Right.
-
Experimenting with Planes, using my own knowledge of Blender
and then researching texture tutorials
Process
Inspiration
I researched Na’vi character designs from the Avatar
franchise, focusing on Neteyam and the balance between his
human and Na’vi traits. I studied the elongated anatomy,
slender proportions, and body patterns used in the films, then
compared these elements to my previous Flying Villain project
to refine my sculpting style and create a more accurate Na’vi
warrior design.
Conclusion
During this project, I learned how to balance longer work
sessions with breaks while improving my workflow and time
management. I experimented with Na’vi anatomy, textures, eye
models, and environment design, which helped me develop
patience, consistency, and stronger character sculpting skills
in Blender.
