This project involved documenting a live event on video. I captured my sister’s senior-year volleyball match, filming a variety of shots before, during, and after the game. I then edited the footage, incorporating B-roll and thoughtful composition to tell the story of the event.

Problem

  • Difficulty capturing the right camera angles during fast-paced volleyball action
  • Challenges in anticipating key moments, as plays ended very quickly
  • Risk of missing important action due to rapid movement and timing

Solution

  • Anticipated gameplay flow to better capture key moments

The Rules of Friendship

For this project, I filmed an interview exploring the “rules” of friendship. By featuring a friend and her younger cousin, the video highlights how perspectives on friendship shift from childhood innocence to a more cautious, mature understanding.

Problem

  • Limited space made it difficult to choose effective recording angles
  • Some shots felt too long or visually restricted

Solution

  • Used B-roll to support and smooth longer clips
  • Made strategic cuts to tighten pacing
  • Improved composition and editing decisions despite limited angle options
