Project
For this project, I collaborated teammates for the Capython 2026
to develop visuals and promotional materials that reflected the
film’s futuristic sci-fi atmosphere. My role included designing
spritesheets, sketches, and website illustrations while helping
organize the overall narrative and visual direction of the film.
The project aimed to build excitement around the indie sci-fi
premiere while emphasizing themes of fear, isolation, survival,
and humanity through a dark, immersive aesthetic inspired by
futuristic technology and post-apocalyptic storytelling.
Problem
-
Tight deadlines while maintaining quality and clarity across
the website visuals and spritesheets.
-
Balancing realistic sci-fi technology with emotional
storytelling and immersive world-building.
-
Ensuring team ideas aligned without overcomplicating the
final design direction.
Solution
-
Used dark monochromatic illustrations and detailed
futuristic designs to reinforce the film’s atmosphere.
-
Referenced sci-fi media like Dead Space to create believable
technology and character concepts.
-
Simplified compositions, reorganized workflows, and
communicated daily with the team to stay on schedule while
maintaining consistency.
Process
Inspiration
I researched references for “sci-fi astronaut” and
“high-technology hero suits,” comparing my character Kahz
Habtom to the protagonist of Dead Space. Both are skilled
engineers navigating dangerous environments to protect
humanity, though my film differs by portraying technology as
something that can be reclaimed rather than feared. The story
focuses on independence, control, and discovery through
movement.
Conclusion
During the project, I learned the importance of teamwork,
communication, and compromise. We ensured everyone had a
chance to share ideas while simplifying concepts when
necessary to avoid overcomplication. Daily communication and
careful time management helped us stay on schedule and
complete each task efficiently.
